Melissa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Currently, she is enrolled in the Master’s Program at USF where she will obtain a degree in Educational Leadership. She has over sixteen years of elementary teaching experience where she has made a tremendous difference in the lives of her students. Children, parents, and teachers are captured by her enthusiasm and touched by her compassion.
Melissa began her teaching career in 1995 teaching fourth grade students of all academic levels at a school in Polk County. In addition to being a classroom teacher, in 1998, she was given the opportunity to become an Educational Consultant for Write Math Enterprises. She has worked as a Writing and Math Resource teacher where she was responsible for training teachers, developing lesson plans, and instructing students in grades K-5. Her passion for teaching struggling students resulted in a seven year teaching position where she taught third, fourth, and fifth grade students at a school that was specifically developed for at-risk students. Each teaching experience has been distinctive, but a constant that remains is her use of Kathy Robinson’s math and writing programs. With Mrs. Northup’s training schools have raised their scores in the areas of writing and math and have shown continuous growth. Students, teachers, and administrators can vouch for outstanding results that have been received as a result of these highly motivating strategies and teaching techniques.
