The 3rd grade curriculum is broken down into two separate binders. Each binder thoroughly covers its respective genre. Once students are in the 3rd grade they are expected to know the differences in writing genres and create their thoughtful and well planned works. This incremental program will prepare your students thoroughly for your state assessment.
PROGRAM INCLUDES:
- 20 weeks of incremental expository and 13 weeks of narrative/poetry lessons
(500+ pages combined).
- Introductory and concluding paragraph lessons.
- Alphabet, vowel, sound, and useful word charts.
- Similes, personification, metaphors, alliteration, and onomatopoeia class work.
- Grammar and Venn diagram activities.
- Detail building, elaboration, and transitional techniques throughout the program.
- Brainstorming lessons and charts.
- Multiple lessons utilizing a graphic organizer.
- Organizational charts for upper level writing and assessment preparation.
- Lessons to teach couplets, haiku, simile, switch, and cinquain poetry.
- Daily/weekly homework activities.
- Brain-based activities tied to each lesson, allowing for movement, music, and tactile activities.
- Actual 3rd grade student writing samples to help with assessment.
